Addition of Peppers beefs up defense against FGs, PATs

''Then,'' he said, ''it'll really be on people's minds.''

Peppers declined to name a target number for himself or the team, but he added that he hopes someone gets one early.

''My name is on it and his name is on it, but it's really the units that we played on, the coach and the scheme that's designed for us to come free,'' new Peppers jerseys said. ''Without someone outside of me getting those players off of me, I'm not able to come through.''

But he and Peppers insisted that they have notched all their blocks because of players around them.

''My goal has always been to lead in that category,'' he said.

Idonije said his goal is to block three kicks each year, and he admitted that he's chasing Rogers.

''You get up there, push the line and get your hands up, they feel that,'' Idonije said of kickers. ''Maybe he shanks. You never know what variable will cause the kick to go wide or short, or high.''

Besides, an actual blocked kick isn't the only positive result.

''That's a good problem to have for the Bears jerseys,'' said Zauner, who coached special teams in the NFL for 13 seasons. ''The [other] teams will try to kick faster or higher. It's like having two defensive ends leading in sacks.''

Longtime NFL special-teams coach Gary Zauner said the Bears will have a ''psychological advantage'' over opponents.

''It becomes an emphasis for you during the week. You have to set up extra periods,'' Fisher said. ''If we're playing a team that can rush the kicker, then that will be as important as our first-down offense.''

Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher said his team prepares accordingly when facing a unit with a knack for blocking kicks.

''Then you let someone else block it,'' he said.

Separately, Peppers and Idonije are the sort of players opposing teams have to keep an eye on. But teams can't overcompensate Harbaugh said.

''That was good,'' he said. ''We were happy.''

The Eagles fell short of that mark, but Harbaugh said they got a couple.

''He guaranteed me we would block seven extra points or field goals that first year,'' Harbaugh recalled. ''I'm like, 'Dave, have at it, man.'''

Harbaugh worked with Toub from 2001 to '03 with the Philadelphia Eagles jerseys. Not lacking confidence, Toub immediately called out a goal to Harbaugh.

''Dave Toub is like the master of blocking field goals,'' Harbaugh said.

But Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh said not to discount another key player to the Bears' kick blocking: Toub.

''That's a great addition for that unit. I know that that's something we'll focus on.''

''We've been known, as a unit, to block kicks, especially in critical situations,'' said Idonije, who is tied for fourth with six blocked kicks. ''Now you bring in another leader, hey, that's great.

The Bears have had a league-high 18 blocked extra points, field goals and punts since he took over the unit in 2004.

The 1979 Minnesota Vikings jerseys hold the NFL record for most blocked extra points and field goals in a single season with 12, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. The 1987 Bears are second with nine.

''That's a bonus, really.''

''When I heard we were looking at him, I was excited about that,'' Toub said, referring to Peppers and his penchant for blocking kicks. ''But I'm not sure that's the main reason we got him.

Since the NFL started tracking blocked kicks in 1978, Peppers is second only to Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Shaun Rogers (16) with nine. Toub is excited because Peppers will team with Israel Idonije to comprise a unit that will strike fear into the hearts of kickers and special-teams coordinators.

But the Bears' special-teams coach hoped Peppers could do something else: block some kicks, too.

Dave Toub knows the Bears signed defensive end Julius Peppers primarily to sack quarterbacks.

Why the Eagles won't win a Super Bowl

Eagle’s fans are notorious for being the worst fans in the league, and maybe the worst fans for any professional sports team. They expect perfection and let players know when they aren’t happy with them.  While fans may view it as tough love, the players would rather see them embrace their football a little more and be more patient with them during their struggles.
As much as fans like to think that pressure does not affect players, it often times does, and not usually in a positive manner. And the fans may not realize this, but players notice the mistreatment new Eagles jerseys fans give to their players. Playing in Philly, you have a 50/50 chance of getting booed, even at home.

Their hardcore Fans

According to the NFL Network, the Eagles will have the ninth toughest schedule in the NFL next year and as long as the NFC playoff race continues to go down to the wire as it has in years past, they likely will never be outside of the top 10 but a competitive NFC East might be too much for their new team to handle.
The Eagles are in arguably the toughest division in football, the NFC East. They have to play the New York Giants, the Dallas Cowboys jerseys, and the Washington Redskins two times a year. As if they needed more challenges, the Eagles will have to face McNabb, who now plays for division rival Washington.  That can take a toll on a team trying to regroup and find their new leader.

Their Division

At times, he was the Eagles lone spark plug and a threat on the ground and in the passing game.  It’s hard to find a running back with excellent receiving skills and Westbrook fits the profile. The Eagles have some really promising young talent, but no one who can lead the team right here and now with Westbrook gone.
But Westbrook’s career is far from over as he still has a lot of football left in the tank. The Washington Redskins jerseys’ coach, Mike Shanahan, has expressed his desire to recruit the free agent running back that was released by the Eagles.

The Eagles offence has struggled in short-yardage situations because of its lack of a physical running game. This was the major knock on Brian Westbrook.  Then, add to it his troublesome knee injuries and a concussion suffered in Week 7 and like the rest, Westbrook was history.
The loss of Brian Westbrook jersey

Kolb was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round (36th overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft and has little experience in the pros.  McNabb on the other hand has done so much during his 10-year career with Philly, having led the Eagles to four consecutive NFC East division championships leaving big shoes for Kolb to fill in a city that is very demanding of its players.
They also lost running back Brian Westbrook and wide receivers Kevin Curtis and Reggie Brown. Westbrook and Curtis have been hurt much of the last few seasons, but they, along with McNabb, provided much of the leadership on the field. To make up for this huge loss, the Eagles opted to keep Michael Vick and assigned back up Kevin Kolb as their new starter.

The Eagles have made it to two Super Bowls in their franchise history and one of those performances’ featured Donovan McNabb under centre. Instead of going out and picking up missing pieces, the Eagles decided to do some spring cleaning on the offensive end and traded their leader and best player, McNabb.
No Donovan McNabb jerseys

But Philly fans shouldn't hold their breath for a league championship. Here are a few reasons why the Eagles will not likely win a Super Bowl in the near future.

Coming off an 11-5 season, the Philadelphia Eagles gracefully exited the first round of the NFL playoffs and made some significant moves during the off season. Philadelphia got rid of a few key players, which prompted many to believe that the team is entering what will likely be a rebuilding year for the city of brotherly love.

Tom Brady Contract Situation

• Current state of negotiations: The sides have discussed a contract extension, on and off, during the past year. Talks are not active at this time, meaning that there is little momentum building toward Brady signing an extension before the start of training camp. Talks could resume at any point, assuming both sides remain willing to keep working toward a deal, which has been the case to date.

• Brady's current deal: Brady is in the final year of a six-year, $60 million extension that he signed in 2005. When Brady signed the extension, it made him one of the league's highest-paid players. Because the extension was front-loaded, Brady was scheduled to earn "only" a $3.5 million base salary in the final year, as well as a $3 million roster bonus, well below market value for a player of his caliber. (Manning, in contrast, is scheduled to earn a base salary of $15.8 million this year.) Because Brady had signed an extension in 2002 when he had two years remaining on his contract, and another extension in 2005 when he had two years remaining on his contract, his representatives probably viewed the possibility of Brady reaching the final year of his contract as unlikely. If there are any ill feelings from Brady or his representatives from the lack of an extension -- and that is all speculative because no one has spoken on the record -- it probably stems from that.

• Short-term fix a possibility? Given the dynamics in play, one potential solution to create goodwill as the process evolves is for the Patriots to take a similar approach as the Tennessee Titans jerseys did with running back Chris Johnson by sweetening Johnson's deal (by a reported $2 million this season). The Patriots could do the same for Brady in an uncapped season, but because a contract can't be adjusted more than once per season, it would restrict the ability to strike a longer extension until after the 2010 league year ends.

• Collective bargaining agreement: With no collective bargaining agreement in place for 2011, and no certainty that there will be football next season, it creates a hurdle to consummating a deal. It's not insurmountable -- as recent big-money contract extensions for other players around the NFL have proved -- but it is the same obstacle affecting talks between the Colts and Manning. "We've been going slowly [as] we're trying to formulate some things that will fit no matter what the [new] system is," Colts president Bill Polian told sports radio WEEI on a recent trip to Boston. "We can't get into the nitty-gritty because we don't know what the rules will be. It's not like you're going to get [a new collective bargaining agreement] in October, I don't think. If that happens, it would be great. But at least you can get a feel for the way things are going."

• History and Peyton Manning jersey as a guide: When Manning played out his rookie contract in 2004, the Colts placed the franchise tag on him before reaching a long-term extension. The Patriots have never been in that situation with Brady, because this is the first time he's reached the final year of his contract. But in the event an extension isn't reached by next offseason, the Patriots could potentially use the franchise tag to buy more time to hammer out a deal and ensure they don't lose Brady. The risk for the Patriots is the possibility that the franchise tag is eliminated as part of a new collective bargaining agreement next season.

• Sam Bradford factor: One line of thinking is that Brady is currently waiting for the market to be set by the expected record deal between the St. Louis Rams and No. 1 overall draft choice Sam Bradford. Although Bradford's expected deal will help reshape the top quarterback market, it's not as if both sides don't know the general neighborhood for where Brady's contract -- and Manning's, for that matter -- will ultimately wind up (potentially in the $18 million to $20 million per season range). So this seems like a minor factor compared to the larger issue of the uncertain labor forecast and the brewing labor battle between owners and the NFL Players Association.

• Kraft's role in balancing NFL and Patriots interests: Kraft finds himself in a challenging spot, balancing the league's interests against the Patriots' interests. That is a fine line to walk. As a leading voice among owners in the labor battle, he must consider how it would affect his standing if he signed off on a Bradford-type contract, or even a Matthew Stafford-type deal (last year's No. 1 pick). So when assessing the best approach for him to be a champion for the NFL and the Patriots, Kraft might view waiting on a Brady deal as the best option.

As fornew Brady jersey, when asked jokingly whether he would take a pay cut at his January charity event, he responded by repeating his feelings that "we're all overpaid."

"We have the greatest job in the world, and I have the greatest job in the world," he said. "I love being here, and I love Boston, I love the city, I love the community, that's where our home is."

But on June 2, a Yahoo! Sports article cited a "growing sense of disconnect" between the Patriots and Brady's representatives in negotiations.

Asked about the "growing sense of disconnect" three days later, Brady said: "I really don't want to talk about it a whole lot, because there is nothing anybody can solve other than the team and myself. There are a lot of guys in my situation."

He added that "things happen; some are out of your control. You just have to go with the flow."

Brady's answers could have been interpreted in a number of ways.

Because Brady didn't squelch the Yahoo! Sports story that there was a "growing sense of disconnect," some might have viewed his response as confirming it. Others could have taken the words at face value, spoken by a player who did not want to put his personal situation above his team.

In that sense, the differing reactions to Brady's response nicely captured the current situation between Brady and the new Patriots jerseys.

The best player in franchise history is entering the final year of his contract for the first time, which has created a considerable buzz.

It's a big story, one that can be dissected from a number of different angles.

New Orleans Saints beat the Indianapolis Colts ,who win ?

But you can pity more the fans of No. 10 — the Cleveland Cavaliers. Their players ranked 11th on effort and likability — but that was before LeBron got Heated up.

The Pacers ranked 98 out of 122 — though that at least was two spots in front of the Chicago Cubs, who were penalized mostly for "bang for the buck" and "affordability," along with, rightfully enough, "title track."

Indiana's other major franchise, the NBA's Pacers, didn't fare so well — just as they haven't fared so well since Reggie Miller and his crew hung up their sneakers and since Ron Artest and his crew dashed into the stands in Detroit.

Still, the Colts' track record is finding pieces to fill in when needed — and finding ways to keep their best players, like Manning and Wayne, very happy. They might not be No. 1, but any fan will tell you that they're pretty close.

Wide receiver Reggie Wayne jerseywants to make more than the $10.5 million total left on the final two years of his contract. And there have been reports that safety Bob Sander's shoulder and bicep injuries could be career-threatening.

Owner Jim Irsay is still trying to figure out how to make Peyton Manning the highest-paid player in the game, at somewhere around $20 million a season (younger brother Eli now leads the list at $16.25 million from the Giants).

There are questions going in.

The Colts, who ranked 14th in the standings in 2009, can start building up to that when training camp opens Aug. 1. The camp is back in Anderson, after spending several years in Terre Haute.

The quickest step would be to start building toward another Super Bowl jerseysappearance — the big game is in Dallas next February — and this time find a way to win.

So how can the Colts, save for lowering ticket prices, parking and concessions (which isn't going to happen), climb the final three steps to No. 1?

Indy did better with players' likability, ownership and stadium experience, but suffered in affordability and (no surprise from the Super Bowl) coaching.

The eight categories that went into play were "bang for the buck," fan relations, ownership, affordability, stadium experience, players, coaching and title track (championships won or expected in the lifetime of current fans).

The Saints shot up from No. 54 — they were dead-last of the 122 franchises just five years ago — by bringing a championship and some much-needed hope to hurricane-ravaged New Orleans.

The new Colts jerseys rank an impressive fourth out of the 122 franchises, trailing the No. 3 Los Angeles Angels, No. 2 Orlando Magic and No. 1 — "Who Dat?!" — the aforementioned Saints.

Last week, ESPN The Magazine released its eighth annual Ultimate Standings, where with the help of statisticians, financial experts and pollsters a study determines "how much MLB, NBA, NFL and NHL franchises give back to the fans in exchange for all the time, money and emotion the fans invest in them."

— If you had a hard enough time believing that the New Orleans Saints jerseys beat the Indianapolis Colts in the Super Bowl — An onsides kick? Really? — this isn't the greatest news: It has happened again.

The 2010 solution: Use play-action for a seamless transition to the 21st century

The Jets' aerial attacks won't ever be mistaken for the Colts or Saints jerseys. That's not what they're good at, and it's not what they want to do. The 2010 Jets want to marry their smashmouth approach to a passing game a bit better than "just good enough," and putting Mark Sanchez in different play-action scenarios is key to making that happen.

On the play, the Jets had first-and-10 at their own 44-yard line. Cotchery (89) was lined up wide right, and the Jets had an offset-I formation with a six-man line. This was another aspect to New York's successful use of play fakes – they'd frequently use run-action, firing their linemen out in run-blocking looks to add to the deception, and they did so on this play. The fake to halfback Thomas Jones jerseys(notes) behind the line of scrimmage gave Guyton pause, and Cotchery the free release at the second level to haul the ball in at the New England 38. That's about where safety Brandon Meriwether (31) and cornerback Jonathan Wilhite(notes) (24) crashed into each other as they converged on Cotchery, letting the receiver slip through and continue the play until Guyton finally brought him down at the 11. After a 2-yard Thomas Jones run, Sanchez used play-action again to find tight end Dustin Keller(notes) for a 9-yard touchdown.

Sanchez had 13 regular-season pass plays of 20 yards or more in play-action, and two of them went to receiver Jerricho Cotchery(notes) in a Week 2 victory against the New England Patriots. After going 3-of-5 for 15 yards in the first half (minus-2 if you include a 17-yard loss on a sack), Sanchez opened up and hit Cotchery for passes of 45 and 22 yards in the third quarter. The 45-yarder came on the first play of the second half, and set things in motion for the offense. The fake did what it was supposed to do, forcing Patriots middle linebacker Gary Guyton(notes) to hesitate for a split second, and though Guyton was dropping into coverage, that split second was all that Sanchez needed.

Sanchez had a lot to learn in his first professional season, but one thing he had from the start was a preternatural ability to sell play-action. This had its roots in Sanchez's collegiate days on a pro-style offense at USC and blossomed with the Jets' strong rushing attack. With defenses understandably tilted to stop the run, fakes to the backs were going to be very effective. Many young quarterbacks can turn those seemingly simple mechanics into a debacle. Not Sanchez, who was always fluid and convincing with the fakes. The new Jets jerseyswent with play-action on 25 percent of their pass plays, fourth-highest in the NFL, and they averaged 6.4 yards per pass play or scramble when they used it, as opposed to 5.5 when they didn't.

2010 Fantasy Football:good Wide Receivers for 2010-11

Greg Jennings, Packers

Green Bays love this guy, so does Aaron Rodgers jersey and so should fantasy owners. Jennings came in with high hopes last season and didn't finish exactly where he wanted but he came on late and showed promise towards end of fantasy season.

He may have had 68 catches for 1,113 yards and only four touchdowns but he was able to show a lot of good signs coming into this next season.

I just drafted Aaron Rodgers in my most important league, so I hope Jennings can crack the top 10. Wait and see, but I think he can do it.

Marques Colston, Saints

Not bad for a guy who New Orleans questioned early in his career eh? When the Saints were riding their spectacular season, Drew Brees was riding this wide receiver's spectacular season.

That spectacular season I'm talking about? 70 receptions for 1,074 and nine touchdowns. The scary part about this is Drew Brees is to nice. If Colston was in a position where he was the only guy running the offense I'd have him a lot higher.

Despite the other guys that Brees likes to find, Colston will once again reign among the leagues best wide receivers and there will not be a Super Bowl hangover.

Anquan Boldin Ravens

Goodbye Arizona. Hello Baltimore. There's a new bird in town. Following an off-season trade to the Ravens, Anquan is on his way to a city where he will be the go-to guy.

No disrespect to Derrick Mason but Anquan Boldin jersey should be and will be the first option for the Joe Flacco. Speaking of which, Joe Flacco has been all smiles since this acquisition and so should fantasy owners.

Boldin is coming off a year where he had 84 catches for 1,024 yards and four touchdowns. With all that said and the promise of Flacco, Boldin's numbers should go up and that means more smiles for fantasy owners.

What Lies Ahead For Chargers' Vincent Jackson?

I doubt an organization as strong as the Chargers jerseys will gamble on losing a great talent, but it will be interesting to see how this situation ends up playing out.

Is this the best we can expect from Floyd (career highs in receptions and yardage), or is this the tip of the iceberg in terms of him showcasing his abilities?

When the smoke clears, all signs point to Jackson staying.  2009 was his second consecutive 1000-yard season, where he improved on already impressive ’08 totals.  While No. 2 on the depth chart, Malcom Floyd, has shown some promise, his numbers last year leave a lot of ambiguity (45 catches, 776 yards, one score).

Perhaps Washington is satisfied with their current receiving core?

Also, Mike Shanahan was hoping to draft Jackson in ’05 when Shanahan was with the Denver Broncos.  So while this scenario really is not that outlandish, it is a bit conspicuous that the Redskins have yet to try and upgrade at wide receiver ever since signing McNabb in April.

Of course, the biggest football news in the nation’s capital this offseason is the addition of Donovan McNabb jersey.  Apparently, Jackson was actually working out with McNabb in Arizona earlier in the month, which could add some fuel to the fire.

The Redskins jerseys actually could be a logical move.  The running back core could be formidable next season with Willie Parker, Larry Johnson and Clinton Portis, and the defense should be effective again, with or without Albert Haynesworth.

They could certainly still afford Jackson at this point, but it's hard to imagine Jackson going from a perennial winning team to someone in a rebuilding phase.  As much progress as the Seahawks have made, Matt Hasselbeck is still no Phillip Rivers.

The Seahawks have been successfully rebuilding seemingly since day one of this offseason, and all of a sudden do not look so terrible with the acquisitions of Golden Tate, Leon Washington and Russell Okung.

Nevertheless, Jackson would absolutely have some suitors.  The main candidates appear to be the Seattle Seahawks and the Washington Redskins.

The next option for the University of Northern Colorado product would be to get traded.  The market for the receiver may not be as large as one would think since the salary and/or drafts picks to compensate him would be considerable.

Terrell Owens is the only name that comes close…and few will argue that he is a terrible fit in San D

First off, one can pretty much rule out any chance of Jackson being released.  While he has not been a model citizen, he has been far from a PR nightmare, and his productivity on the field would be awfully hard to replace with someone on the current free agent market.

While I really do not see Jackson leaving San Diego, let us take a look at the possible scenarios here.

However, if this was going to be the Bolts plan of action, it would probably make more sense to ship Jackson out in the near future.  His trade value has taken a minimal, if any hit, and a plethora of teams could use an upgrade at receiver.

This is what makes the plot thicken, as rumors around the San Diego area indicate that Jackson may decide to hold out until after week 10  if he cannot get a long-term deal.  This would drop his salary all the way down to $206,000, next to nothing by NFL jerseys standards, so the Chargers could easily add another receiver to the roster.

Needless to say, it is unexpected that a star the caliber of Jackson would play for this salary next year.

By not signing by the league tender deadline of June 14th, Jackson forfeited over $2.5 million in hopes of getting a long-term deal.   Jackson left a one-year, $3.268 million deal on the table, reducing his guaranteed salary to just $583,000, barring a new deal agreement being reached.

Why would a team that has been fiercely competitive the past few seasons even consider getting rid of one of its most potent weapons?  Unfortunately, the drama with VJ does not end with his recent suspension.

The question now is what is next for Jackson?  Since Commissioner Roger Goodell has been cracking down significantly on players recently, the aforementioned question may seem a little out of place.

The official reason given by the league was that “Jackson violated the league’s personal conduct policy”, so it is hard to imagine he was suspended for any other reason.  Jackson has filed an appeal for the suspension, apparently confident he can at least minimize his punishment.

Jackson has been arrested for two DUI charges since then, one in 2006, and one in 2009.  He was not formally charged for his most recent crime until February of 2010, the main reason many are attributing as the reason for his three-game suspension, effective next season.

Vincent Jackson came up big for the Chargers in 2009.  He posted 68 receptions for 1,167 yards, and led the team with nine receiving touchdowns.  However, he has in all likelihood been the most controversial member of the Chargers squad since he was drafted in 2005.

The breakdown of this year's potential breakthrough players

TERRELL THOMASCornerback, Giants jerseys

Thomas, in his third year out of USC, was penciled into the starting lineup after fellow corner Aaron Ross suffered a hamstring injury. When Ross got healthy, he didn't slide back into his position but was moved to safety. That was a testament to how well Thomas played in relief.

Thomas, who had five interceptions and 13 pass breakups last season, is not only a fundamentally sound player with good instincts, but also a playmaker. He does a great job muscling slot receivers, so it's likely he'll move inside quite a bit.

STEPHEN BOWENDefensive end, new Cowboys jerseys

The smiling, baby-faced Bowen doesn't look the part of defensive menace, at least in the locker room. He can create havoc, though, and good things frequently happen for the Cowboys when he's on the field.

Bowen is a dangerous third-down pass rusher who had three sacks and 33 pressures last season. His role could increase this year, as the Cowboys seem to be phasing out defensive end Marcus Spears. In an ominous sign for Spears, a first-round pick in 2005, his new deal will pay him $1.23 million this season, considerably less than the twin $1.75-million deals just received by backups Bowen (undrafted, 2006) and Jason Hatcher (third round, 2006).

DARIUS BUTLERCornerback, Patriots jerseys

When you play in the same division as receivers such as Brandon Marshall, Santonio Holmes and Braylon Edwards, you need consistent play in the secondary. Butler will give that to the Patriots, who often struggled there last season.

Butler, a second-round pick in 2009 out of Connecticut, is an upgrade at right corner from Shawn Springs, 35, who's really showing his age. Butler also is a far more reliable option at the spot than Jonathan Wilhite.

Leigh Bodden is still New England's best corner, and first-rounder Devin McCourty is a promising rookie, but the opportunity is there for Butler to step into the spotlight.

JUSTIN FORSETTRunning back, Seahawks

Forsett, in his third season out of Cal, is everything LenDale White wasn't — undersized, dedicated, productive, and an instant Pete Carroll favorite.

The Seahawks had the league's 26th-ranked running game last season, but they might have been much more effective had they put the ball in Forsett's hands. The 5-foot-8, 194-pound back averaged 5.4 yards in 114 carries with four touchdowns, and caught 41 balls out of the backfield. He was far more explosive than Julius Jones, who was limited to fewer than 50 yards in more than half of his starts last season.

DASHON GOLDSON Safety, 49ers jerseys

If San Francisco is going to compete for the NFC West title this season, it's going to be on the strength of its defense. Goldson has Pro Bowl potential in a secondary that hasn't made a lot of big plays in recent years.

what result of 2010 Fantasy Football Rankings?

Over the next month, we will release our keeper rankings, point-per-reception (PPR) rankings, and our top 150 cheat sheets, as well as in-depth player analysis and projections. For now, here is our updated list of the top 20 tight ends for fantasy football:

Visanthe Shiancoe, Vikings : Shiancoe has never surpassed 596 yards in one season, but he has been a touchdown machine over the past two seasons (18 TDs).

Tony Gonzalez, new Falcons jerseys : Arguably the greatest tight end ever, Gonzalez had more targets (135) than any other tight end, and finished with 83 receptions for 867 yards and six touchdowns in 2009.

Kellen Winslow, Buccaneers : Considering the weakness of the Buccaneers' receiving corps, he's the only legitimate weapon in their passing attack. Last year, Winslow ranked fourth among tight ends in targets (127).

Owen Daniels, Texans : In an injury-shortened halfseason, Daniels caught 40 passes for 519 yards and five touchdowns. His pace (80-1038-10) would have ranked him fourth in receptions, third in yards, and tied for third in TDs among tight ends.

Jason Witten football jerseys, Cowboys : Witten had a "down" year of 94 passes for 1,030 yards (and only two touchdowns). Many tight ends (or wide receivers) would love to have a "down" year like that. By drafting Dez Bryant in the first round , the Cowboys have another weapon competing for targets.

Jermichael Finley, Packers : In his final eight games (including the Packers' postseason game), Finley finished with 44 receptions for 575 yards and four touchdowns. Despite missing three games, Finley still finished in the top ten in receiving yards among TEs in his second (and breakout) season.

Brent Celek, new Eagles jerseys : Two of Celek's three 100-yard games came in the only two in which Kevin Kolb started. It's hard to not picture an even better season than what he produced in his breakout campaign (76-971-8).

Vernon Davis, 49ers : The wait is over. Davis finally broke out. Last year's numbers (78-965-13) were essentially better than his two previous seasons combined (83-867-6).

Dallas Clark, Colts : What's not to like? With a line of 100-1106-10, Clark ranked first in receptions, second in yards, and third in touchdowns among tight ends.

Antonio Gates, Chargers football jerseys : Despite only ranking sixth among tight ends in targets (114), Gates led tight ends—and set a career-high—in receiving yards (1,157) in 2009. With the three-game suspension (and potential holdout beyond that) of Vincent Jackson, Gates should see more targets in 2010. Therefore, I swapped Gates and Dallas Clark in the updated rankings.

6 Marquee Players for 2010

1. RB Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans jerseys: Johnson had 2,509 total yards last season including 2,006 on the ground.  The 408 total touches (including 50 receptions) is concerning but he is just 24.  Johnson has tremendous big play ability but also showed remarkable consistency (11 straight 100+ yard games.).   Expect a small decline as the Titans manage his workload for a playoff run in 2010.

2. RB Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings: He has had 1,800+ total yards for consecutive seasons and also, led the NFL in rushing touchdowns with 18 in 2010.  Expect his receptions and yardage to increase and his touchdowns decrease as power back Toby Gerhart replaces shifty Chester Taylor.

3. RB Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens : Rice was one of fantasy football best values in 2009 and he will look to build on that success in 2010.  A runner/receiver who puts up Brian Westbrook-like stat lines, Rice put up 2,041 total yards (including 1,339 on the ground) while only having more than 20 carries twice.  On the flip-side he caught three or more passes in 14 games.  On the negative side, he plays in a timeshare which limits his touches, especially at the goal line.  Rice is most valuable in PPR leagues (in non-PPR leagues flipflop Rice and Jones-Drew).

4. RB Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville: Jones-Drew proved he was capable of carrying a full-time load with 312 carries in 2009 while gaining 1,765 total yards.  He is tremendous around the goal line with 30 combined TDs the past two years.  His value increases in PPR league as he has caught 40 or more passes every year of his career.

5. WR Andre Johnson, new Houston Texans jerseys: With 100+ catches and 1,500+ yards each of the past two seasons, Johnson entrenched himself as the top fantasy receiver.  His 14 100-yard games the past two years make him the league leader in that category (only one other player, Roddy White, has more than 10 during that time).  He also had only one game with less than 63 yards in 2009.  The only negative on Johnson is his lack of ideal touchdown numbers (eight, eight, and nine the past three years).

6. RB new Frank Gore jerseys, San Francisco 49ers: Gore is a good runner and underrated receiver who is poised for a big year behind a revamped offensive line and playing for a coach who prefers a strong ground attack.  He is more good than great, and has missed two games each of the past two seasons.

Fantasy Football ,Fantasy Tom Brady

Tom Martinez is a nationally renowned quarterbacks coach, and has been the personal tutor for new Tom Brady jerseyssince Brady's teen years.  He worked closely with eventual No. 1 overall pick JaMarcus Russell prior to the 2007 NFL Draft, and believes Russell's career is salvageable.

Martinez says Russell didn't ruin himself.  The Raiders did it.

"He was never wanted there by any of the coaches," Martinez told Kristian R. Dyer of the New York Times.  "The only one who wanted him there was Al Davis. ... Al Davis told them to draft him.  He was the epitome of an Al Davis quarterback."

Martinez also noted that, during contract negotiations, the Raiders football jerseys spoiled Russell by paying him $4 million more than Russell was asking for rather than meeting in the middle.

As for Russell's sssslow development, Martinez blames the supporting cast Davis assembled.  Martinez pointed to weak offensive linemen, "receivers who don't know how to get open, who don't know how to separate," and misuse of running backs in the passing game.

The NFL's current version of passing-game gurus does not revolve around highly paid coaches or wily coordinators, but rather around star quarterbacks.

Peyton Manning foot jerseys, Tom Brady, new Drew Brees jerseys and Brett Favre preside over the air-attack command center.

But quarterbacks did not always overshadow their coaches' play cards.

In the 1980s, we here saw Bill Walsh's passing-game innovations turn the 49ers into a championship-catching dynasty. At about the same time down the California coast, Don Coryell was making his "Air Coryell" impact as the San Diego Chargers' coach.

Coryell died last week at 85. The term "passing-game guru" accompanied many of the obituaries written about him across the nation and Internet.

"I like to spread people all over and put them in motion and move them and try to put a good player on one that isn't as good," Coryell said.

That quote did not come during his renowned days as the Chargers' coach from 1978-86. Actually, he vividly recalled his coaching days during a phone interview four summers ago, when I came calling about one of his many assistants who went on to greatness, this one being John Madden.

To better understand Coryell's impact on the game — he was a Pro Football Hall of Fame finalist this year — you should understand where he developed his offensive ideas.
